Seven Nations. One Moon
Seven Nations. One Moon
The Continent of Luna is considered the world’s “eighth continent,” located deep within the Pacific Ocean east of Asia and west of the Americas. The continent earned its name from ancient sailors who described its landmass as crescent-shaped beneath the moonlight. Over centuries, Luna became known not only for its strategic location between East and West, but also for its uniquely blended cultures, languages, and peoples.
Modern Lunans are descendants of ancient indigenous Lunan tribes mixed with waves of Persian, Asian, and European settlers, conquerors, merchants, and refugees who arrived over thousands of years. Because of this, Luna developed into one of the most culturally diverse regions in the world.
Though the seven nations of Luna share common ancestral roots, centuries of war, colonization, monarchy, trade, and political division caused each country to evolve into a distinct society with its own language, traditions, and identity.
Archaeological evidence suggests the first Lunans were seafaring civilizations who settled the crescent continent over 4,000 years ago. These early tribes spoke Ancient Lunan, a now nearly extinct language considered the root language of all seven modern Lunan nations.
Ancient Luna was originally united through trade routes, spiritual beliefs, and oceanic navigation systems. The Moon Temples of Old Luna, now mostly ruins, played a central role in religion and governance. Early Lunans believed the moon represented memory, fate, and emotional balance, themes that still subtly influence modern Lunan cultures today.
Roughly 1,500 years ago, Luna fractured into rival kingdoms after the collapse of the Old Lunar Empire. Regional rulers rose to power, each shaping their territories through foreign alliances, warfare, and cultural assimilation.
As outside powers from Asia, the Middle East, and Europe began arriving through trade and conquest, each Lunan nation absorbed different cultural influences depending on geography and political alliances.
This era created the seven modern nations of Luna.
Anthera “The Iron Nation”
Kyori “The Crowned Heart of Luna”
Casona “The Sun Coast Kingdom”
Soya “The Entertainment Capital of Luna”
Hartara “The Emerald Kingdoms”
Peyora “The Fractured Nation”
Yuli “The Empire of Silk and Steel”
Today, Luna is viewed as one of the world’s most politically complicated yet culturally influential regions. The continent is simultaneously:
modern and traditional
globally connected yet internally divided
emotionally expressive yet image-conscious
Its nations remain tied together through:
shared ancestral roots
trade
entertainment
migration
political tension
ancient cultural memory
Though modern Lunans often identify strongly with their own nations, traces of Ancient Lunan heritage remain embedded throughout the continent in language, mythology, architecture, and cultural values.
Below are some fun stuff about the Lunan language. You can even download a font I've created for this language. Please note that all of these are made purely from my imagination and is not meant to be taken as anything but for entertainment purposes. The Lunan language focuses on syllable pronunciations rather than spelling. For example, Luna = Lu + Na, Sophea = So + Fi + Ya. You can check the meaning of the character names below and even see how they would be written in "traditional Lunan".
